After recently hosting 4-star linebacker Mason Posa for an official visit, the Oregon Ducks are eagerly awaiting his decision, which could come very soon. Posa, the top high school football prospect from New Mexico, revealed he will announce his college choice on Thursday, June 13th, at 5 PM PT via social media. With Oregon, Texas A&M, and Wisconsin in his top three, Posa visited Wisconsin on May 31st and Oregon last weekend. Despite a scheduled visit to Texas A&M on June 21st, it falls after his commitment date.
Currently, the Crystal Ball projects the Wisconsin Badgers to secure his commitment, but there are only two predictions placed at this time.
247Sports’ Hudson Standish provided this scouting report on Posa back in late November of the 2023 football season.
A 6-foot-3, 210-pound athlete who’s also a credentialed wrestler, winning two New Mexico 5A state titles as a freshman and sophomore, which led to a wrestling scholarship offer from Arizona State. Wrestling background shows up on tape with frantic sideline-to-sideline pursuit and instinctual understanding of leverage and hand placement when engaged. He spends the majority of his time as a defender hovering around the line of scrimmage but impresses with coverage ability as a zone defender, including reps as a deep safety. Could stick at off-ball linebacker or eventually spin down and play as a linebacker/edge hybrid thanks to his unique combination of fluid movement and explosive athleticism.
The 6-foot-3 linebacker is rated as the No. 1 player in New Mexico, the No. 18 linebacker, and the No. 154 prospect in the country, regardless of position.
