BBC presenter Carol Kirkwood ties the knot in secret wedding

In a surprising turn of events, BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood has recently tied the knot with her partner Steve Randall. The secret wedding took place in Buckinghamshire, just two days after the Christmas celebrations. The news of their nuptials was revealed on BBC Breakfast on Friday, where Kirkwood expressed her joy and described the wedding as “perfect, romantic, and intimate.”

This is Kirkwood’s second marriage, following her divorce from cricket player Jimmy Kirkwood in 2008 after 18 years of marriage. The presenter took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express her gratitude for the well-wishers and to share her happiness alongside Steve. She emphasized that while the wedding was not intentionally kept a secret, it was indeed a private affair. The couple is overwhelmed with joy and cherishing the memories of their special day.

Fans and friends quickly showered Kirkwood with congratulations and good wishes. The BBC Breakfast account also congratulated the couple and sent their best wishes. Pictures shared by the BBC Breakfast X account showcased Kirkwood in a beautiful boat neckline satin dress, reminiscent of the style popularized by the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle. She held a bouquet of exquisite long-stemmed roses.

Colleague Dan Walker also offered his heartfelt congratulations, describing Kirkwood as kind, caring, brilliant at her job, and a wonderful person to be around. Carol Vorderman and ITV’s This Morning presenter Rylan Clark were among the well-wishers extending their congratulations to the couple.

Prior to their marriage, Kirkwood shared endearing details about her now-husband Randall. She described him as “extremely handsome” and praised his ability to always make her laugh. Kirkwood revealed that he would always make her a cup of tea before her early morning work shifts and leave little love notes for her when she returned home. She considered these gestures far more precious than a million red roses. Kirkwood expressed her belief that Randall is the best thing that has ever happened to her.

The engagement between Kirkwood and Randall was announced in May of 2022. During a weather forecast, Kirkwood showed off her engagement ring and recounted the romantic moment when Randall proposed during a picnic. She admitted that she initially thought he was joking, but was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful ring and the sincerity behind the gesture. Reports suggest that Kirkwood and Randall were friends before their romantic relationship blossomed. She shared her delight at how their connection naturally evolved into something more.

Kirkwood has been notably private about her personal life, previously refraining from publicly naming her long-time partner or disclosing his surname. In an interview while promoting her debut romantic novel, Under A Greek Moon, she explained her decision to keep her personal life private in order to respect the privacy of her loved ones. Nevertheless, Kirkwood couldn’t help but express her admiration for her partner, describing him as drop-dead gorgeous, funny, and someone who brings her immense happiness.

In addition to her successful career as a BBC weather presenter, Kirkwood also participated in the 2015 series of BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing, where she was partnered with Pasha Kovalev. As Kirkwood embarks on this new chapter in her life, she reflects on the unexpected blessings she has received and looks forward to the future with her beloved husband.
