With the NFL Draft looming just three weeks away, the Minnesota Vikings are diligently researching all potential draft prospects who could join their team in the first round. Following Kirk Cousins’ departure and Sam Darnold’s signing to a one-year deal, there’s widespread belief that the Vikings will leverage their two first-round picks (11th and 23rd overall) to trade up and secure their quarterback of the future.
Multiple quarterbacks have been associated with the Vikings, notably JJ McCarthy (Michigan), Drake Maye (UNC), Jayden Daniels (LSU), and Michael Penix Jr (Washington). Private workouts have occurred with McCarthy and Penix, with one reportedly scheduled for Maye. However, discussions regarding Daniels have been quiet since a planned meeting post his pro day was abruptly canceled. As of now, over a week later, Daniels hasn’t met with anyone from the Vikings organization since the NFL combine.
Meanwhile, the entire team was in Seattle over the weekend to meet with Penix Jr. According to insider Darren Wolfson (SKOR North), the Vikings are aiming to gain a deeper understanding of Daniels before the draft, but scheduling a suitable time is proving challenging.
Despite reports suggesting that Jayden Daniels was highly impressed with Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell after their meeting at the NFL Combine, doubts seem to be emerging from the 23-year-old’s camp regarding the necessity of a workout with the Minnesota Vikings.
