Bristol Township police are investigating the death of 9-year-old Lex Heinisch, who was found unresponsive at his home in the 900 block of Dixon Avenue in Croydon on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Emergency responders arrived shortly before 8 p.m. and transported Lex to Lower Bucks Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Bucks County Coroner’s Office performed an autopsy on Wednesday morning; however, the cause and manner of death are pending, according to First Deputy Coroner Kristina Johnson.
In a letter to parents, the Bristol Township School District indicated that Lex died “after an accident.” Lex was a fourth-grade student at Mill Creek Elementary School. Superintendent Michael Nitti expressed condolences, stating, “Our condolences and deepest sympathies are extended to all who have been impacted by this tragic loss. Today we are a grieving school community.”
To support the Heinisch family during this difficult time, a GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist with funeral-related expenses. As of Wednesday afternoon, the campaign had raised more than $7,000. Coach Chris Grant of the Hulmeville Lightning youth soccer team, on which Lex played, initiated the fundraiser. Grant described Lex as a passionate player who “poured his heart out on the field every practice, game and training session.”
The Bristol Township Police Department has released few details about the incident and is continuing its investigation. Further updates will be provided as appropriate, in coordination with the family’s wishes.
