“Wrexham is interested in signing Notts County striker Macaulay Langstaff after securing promotion to League One.
Phil Parkinson’s team, having earned automatic promotion from League Two, is now seeking to bolster its squad.”
Parkinson has acknowledged that Wrexham has a significant challenge ahead in getting recruitment right this summer. He specifically mentioned that it will be a ‘big test’ for the team.
One of their confirmed targets is goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, who had a good loan stint from Arsenal. The club plans to ramp up their recruitment efforts after their final game of the season against Stockport County this weekend.
As for the current squad, Parkinson has several strikers to choose from, including Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer, who have a strong partnership.
Sam Dalby, seasoned player Steven Fletcher, and Jack Marriott, who joined in January, are also in contention for Wrexham’s striker positions. However, the club is looking to add another forward to their roster.
Wrexham had their sights set on Langstaff last summer, but didn’t pursue him because Notts County also secured promotion from the National League.
Although Wrexham have since moved up to League One, Notts County ended up 14th in League Two despite Langstaff’s impressive 28 league goals.
Langstaff has attracted attention from other clubs, like Bolton Wanderers and Peterborough United, which makes it costly for Wrexham to acquire him.
It would likely take a record-breaking offer for Wrexham to persuade Notts County to sell their star striker this summer.
