On Monday, reports surfaced indicating that defensive lineman Jayson Jenkins intended to enter the spring transfer portal to find a new college football program.
Jenkins, a three-star recruit from the class of 2022, played in six games last season, making just four tackles. It seemed like he was set to leave Knoxville, but plans took a turn. Despite earlier reports, 24 hours later, he officially entered the transfer portal.

While it may not seem critical that a player with only four tackles last season decided to stay, maintaining depth on the defensive line is always beneficial. The Volunteers recently lost their leading tackler, linebacker Elijah Herring, who entered the portal last week. With a reduced roster on defense, Tennessee couldn’t afford to lose another player.
