The New York Giants strengthen their cornerback roster by signing David Long Jr. on a one-year contract.
The New York Giants bolstered their defensive and special teams units earlier this week by signing David Long Jr. to a one-year contract, as reported by Paul Schwartz from the New York Post.
Long Jr. was drafted with the No. 79 overall pick in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams out of Michigan. In four career seasons, Long has totaled one interception, 96 combined tackles, and eight pass defenses.
David Long Jr., a 5-foot-11 defensive back, signed a two-year, $11 million contract with the Carolina Panthers before the 2023 NFL season after leaving the Tennessee Titans. However, he played for three different teams during the 2023 season, with stints at the Panthers, Green Bay Packers, and Las Vegas Raiders.
The New York Giants have now signed Long Jr., bringing in a versatile contributor to support their defense and potentially bolster a special teams unit that generated just 38 touchbacks last season—the third-fewest in the league.
