Loyalty in football is rare these days. Once the cash is flashed, a player’s head is usually turned.

For former Wrexham captain Luke Young, the drive was never about money but about achieving success. He concludes his six-year tenure at the Racecourse Ground with a second consecutive promotion. Young will officially leave the club when his contract expires at the end of June, and prospects look promising for the 31-year-old, who made over 250 appearances for the Reds.

Phil Parkinson disclosed that several managers have inquired about the departing players, including Ben Tozer, Aaron Hayden, and Jordan Tunnicliffe, who are among the nine players released by the club.

The departure of Young, though, given he was the longest-serving player in the current squad was the one that hurt the most and the midfield maestro has since penned a message to his teammates.
