No way! Cleveland Cavaliers Dealt Bad News In Attempt To Improve Roster

The Cleveland Cavaliers have made minimal efforts to upgrade their roster this offseason. Their sole notable move was drafting Jaylon Tyson from the University of California in the first round of the NBA Draft. Due to financial constraints, the Cavaliers have struggled to make significant improvements and have remained inactive in free agency as a result.

Luke Travers, drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round of the 2022 NBA Draft, has yet to debut in the NBA despite playing in the NBL (National Basketball League) for the past five seasons since being drafted. He has been part of the Cavs’ summer league team for the last two seasons and is participating for a third consecutive year in the United States.

During a recent media availability at the summer league, Travers expressed his aspirations for the NBA, stating, “I’m going to go out there and play as hard as I can and focus on the little things. My goal is to contribute as a role player in the NBA.”

The 22-year-old has a clear strategy to distinguish himself by focusing on hustle plays and excelling in the details.

“I’m aiming to demonstrate my ability to do that, whether it’s in summer league or in the NBA. I’ll be out there hustling, rebounding, pushing the pace, and making those extra passes. It’s about consistently showcasing that aspect of my game.”

Travers posted averages of 12.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in the last NBL season. During the Cavaliers’ summer league championship win last year, he averaged 7.0 points with a 48 percent shooting accuracy.

Given Cleveland’s current roster gaps, particularly for a bench forward, Travers’ skill set positions him as a potential solution, possibly realizing this opportunity sooner than anticipated.
