Lowry, 38, joined the Sixers midway through last season after being traded from the Miami Heat to the Charlotte Hornets in late January, then waived by Charlotte three weeks later. A Philadelphia native and former Villanova college player, Lowry appeared in 23 regular-season games for the Sixers, starting 20, and averaged 8.0 points, 4.6 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting 40.4 percent from 3-point range. He notably scored 18 points in the 76ers’ playoff opener and averaged 7.0 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.5 rebounds during their six-game series against the New York Knicks.
Lowry participated in six consecutive All-Star Games and garnered MVP consideration in the 2015-16 season while playing for the Toronto Raptors. His tenure with the Raptors culminated in guiding them to the 2019 NBA championship. Throughout his 18-season NBA career spanning stints with Memphis (2006-09), Houston (2009-12), Toronto (2012-21), Miami (2021-24), and Philadelphia, Lowry has maintained career averages of 14.3 points, 6.2 assists, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game.
