On Friday night, it was reported that Kevin Burleson had been hired by the Detroit Pistons as an assistant coach under new head coach J.B. Bickerstaff. Yes, he is related to Nate Burleson, the former NFL receiver who notably played for the Detroit Lions from 2010 to 2013, the peak of his 11-year NFL career. Nate has since transitioned into a role as co-anchor on “CBS Mornings” and has become a vocal advocate for Detroit. Nate expressed excitement for his brother’s new coaching opportunity in Detroit, praising Kevin as both a skilled coach and a commendable individual. This marks Kevin’s third stint as an NBA assistant coach, having previously worked with the Memphis Grizzlies and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Kevin also had a diverse playing career that included stints in Germany, Romania, and a season with the Charlotte Bobcats.
