After 3 shaky starts Bears QB Caleb Williams shows he’s on right track in 24-18 win over Rams

After a rough start to the season, Caleb Williams, the Chicago Bears’ rookie quarterback, showed signs of progress in their 24-18 victory over the Los Angeles Rams. Williams completed 17 of 23 passes for 157 yards and delivered a key touchdown pass to wide receiver DJ Moore, marking the first NFL scoring connection between the two. This game was pivotal for Williams, as he had struggled in his first three starts, but he displayed better poise and decision-making in this win.

The Bears’ offense showed significant improvement, benefiting from strong performances by other key players. Running back D’Andre Swift was crucial to the team’s success, amassing 93 rushing yards on 16 carries and adding seven receptions for 72 yards. He played a pivotal role in keeping the offense balanced and sustaining drives. Meanwhile, rookie Roschon Johnson also found the end zone with a rushing touchdown, further strengthening the Bears’ ground attack.

On the defensive side, the Bears made critical plays to secure the victory. Jaquan Brisker, one of the team’s standout defenders, had a strong showing, including a crucial interception off Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford in the final minute. This turnover came at a critical moment, allowing the Bears to close out the game without giving the Rams another scoring opportunity. Brisker’s performance, which also included a sack, highlighted the Bears’ defensive resilience despite facing a veteran quarterback like Stafford.

For the Rams, Stafford had a decent outing, completing 20 of 29 passes for 224 yards. However, his efforts were not enough, especially in the absence of top receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. The Rams leaned on Kyren Williams, who rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown, but the Bears’ defense held firm when it mattered most.

This win brings the Bears to a 2-2 record, and more importantly, it signals that Caleb Williams may be finding his rhythm after initial struggles. His ability to spread the ball, manage the game efficiently, and build chemistry with his teammates, particularly DJ Moore, was a positive sign for Chicago fans. Although it’s too early to declare Williams fully settled into the NFL, this performance showed that he’s on the right track.

The victory at Soldier Field provided some relief for a Bears team that had high expectations entering the season. With Williams at the helm, they hope to continue building momentum and improving their offensive execution as the season progresses. His development will be key to the Bears’ success, and if this game is any indication, he’s starting to make the adjustments needed to thrive at the NFL level.
