Alex Collins stands out among the nine inductees into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Honor.

Since its inception in 1988, the University of Arkansas Sports Hall of Honor has annually inducted over 270 individuals each fall. This year, nine additional Razorback legends will join this prestigious club.

The newest members of the Hall of Honor include eight athletes and one coach: Ravin Caldwell (football), Alex Collins (football), Matt Hemingway (men’s track and field), Matt Jones (football), Kareem Reid (men’s basketball), Coach Dave Van Horn (baseball), Devon Wallace (softball), David Walling (baseball), and Wendi Willits (women’s basketball).

When Director of Athletic Hunter Yurachek commented on this year’s inductees, he said,

The gathering of numerous Arkansas greats in one place is always a spectacle to behold, yet this fall’s ceremony will be tinged with sorrow. Among the nine esteemed individuals slated for induction, one will not be present to witness his name honored. Alex Collins tragically passed away in 2023 following a motorcycle accident.

The induction ceremony is scheduled for Friday, September 13, the eve of Arkansas’s football game against UAB.

The University of Arkansas Sports Hall of Honor stands as a testament to the pinnacle of achievement within our program’s storied history. This year’s distinguished class showcases a Hall of Fame coach and a roster of exceptionally talented athletes who have left an indelible mark on Razorback history. Among them are national champions, Olympic medalists, and standout performers from six different programs, all of whom have played pivotal roles in shaping our legacy of success.

We eagerly anticipate celebrating the remarkable achievements of these men and women during our upcoming Hall of Honor weekend. It is a time to reflect on their contributions and to honor their enduring impact on the University of Arkansas athletics community.
