In today’s edition of Auburn Tigers News, the Auburn football program loses another commit and legendary Bo Jackson joins the Kansas City Royals Hall of Fame
On Friday afternoon, 4-star linebacker Tyler Lockhart announced on his personal social media that he is decommitting from the Auburn football program and reopening his recruitment. Hailing from Winona, Mississippi, Lockhart is ranked as the #19 linebacker in the 2025 recruiting class and the #5 prospect in his state.
Lockhart’s decision to decommit came shortly after his visit to Mississippi State, where his brother plays. His commitment to Auburn back in May was surprising, as he had been leaning towards Mississippi State, and it appears the visit has caused him to reconsider.
Despite losing two commits this week, Auburn football’s 2025 recruiting class remains in the top 10 nationally, with 14 commitments.
Bo Jackson joins the Kansas City Royals Hall of Fame
Over the weekend, Auburn legend Bo Jackson was honored by the Kansas City Royals. A duel athlete at Auburn, Jackson was drafted as the first overall pick by Tampa Bay in the 1986 NFL Draft after winning the Heisman Trophy in 1985.
In a shocking move, Jackson pivoted, and signed instead with the Kansas City Royals after being chosen in the fourth round of the 1986 First-Year Player Draft. He was inducted into the Royals Hall of Fame in a ceremony that took place ahead of Kansas City’s American League game against the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday.
“Thank you, Kansas City,” Jackson said during his induction speech, according to AL.com. “I wouldn’t be me without you.”
Jackson spent five seasons with Kansas City, ending the 1989 season with 32 home runs and 105 RBIs. He is now the 30th member of the Royals Hall of Fame.
