Ohio State running back Sam Williams-Dixon has withdrawn his name from the NCAA Transfer Portal and will return to the Buckeyes for the 2025 season. This decision bolsters Ohio State’s depth in the backfield, which had been impacted by the departure of running back Quinshon Judkins, who declared for the NFL Draft in late January.
Williams-Dixon, a three-star recruit from Pickerington North High School in Ohio, appeared in three games during his freshman year in 2024, rushing for 53 yards on seven carries. His return provides valuable depth behind returning scholarship player James Peoples and incoming transfers, including CJ Donaldson from West Virginia. Additionally, incoming freshmen Bo Jackson, Anthony “Turbo” Rogers, and Isaiah West will compete for playing time in the upcoming season.
The Buckeyes are coming off a national championship victory, having defeated Notre Dame 34-23 in the College Football Playoff title game. Despite the loss of key players like Judkins, the team remains optimistic about the upcoming season, with returning talents such as All-American safety Caleb Downs and promising newcomers like redshirt freshman quarterback Julian Sayin.
Williams-Dixon’s decision to remain with Ohio State underscores the team’s commitment to maintaining a strong and competitive roster as they prepare for the 2025 season.
