BREAKING NEWS: Packers run defense will be tested early and often in….

If new coordinator Jeff Hafley has to do anything he has to improve the team’s run defense and he has to do it rather quickly.

In Joe Barry’s final season as coordinator the Packers ranked 28th in rushing yards allowed per game (128.3). They ranked tied for 24th in yards allowed per carry (4.4) and the 15 rushing touchdowns they allowed was tied for 17th.

Barry’s schemes were destined to fail against the run, and they did. Hafley’s transformation to a 4-3, or 4-2-5, from the 3-4, or 2-4-5 Barry employed should help. But it’s going to take more than just that. And it better happen in a hurry.

The Packers will face some of the best running backs in the league in 2024. They open the season with Saquon Barkley, now with Philadelphia and

, with Indianapolis and it doesn’t ease up from there.
