The Giants, marking their 100th anniversary, have a rich history including 18 years at Yankee Stadium. To honor this legacy, they’re partnering with the Yankees for Giants 100th Season Day at Yankee Stadium on Aug. 4, as reported by the New York Post.
Eli Manning will be throwing out the first pitch, and the first 18,000 fans in attendance will receive a bobblehead featuring the legendary Giants quarterback in pinstripes.
According to the Post, a Super Bowl trophy and the 1956 NFL championship trophy (which was clinched at Yankee Stadium) will be on display at the game.
This season, Giants players will wear a special 100th anniversary patch on the left side of their jersey. The border of the patch is shaped like the Polo Grounds.
It’s something we’re excited about,’’ Giants owner John Mara told the Post. “Not many franchises have been around for 100 years and it’s something we’re proud of. And the fact we have this fan base now, I hear from people who are third-generation and now we’ve got fourth-generation fans and ticket holders, that’s something that is really unique, only a few franchises and fortunately we’re one of them.’’
