Breaking News:Ipswich eyeing move for player released by Tottenham this week, Jose Mourinho says he’s ‘amazing’

Kieran McKenna signed a new four-year contract, quelling rumors of a move to Chelsea or Manchester United, and generating optimism at Portman Road for the upcoming season. However, it’s clear that the team needs several additions, and they are reportedly targeting a former Tottenham defender.

Ipswich Eyeing Japhet Tanganga

According to The Mirror (page 70), Ipswich Town are interested in Japhet Tanganga, who was recently released by Tottenham. The 25-year-old had a lackluster stint at Bundesliga’s Augsburg last season but found his form with Millwall in the Championship from January onwards. While Millwall wants to make his loan deal permanent, Tanganga is considering all his options before making a decision.

He is set to become a free agent on July 1st, so there won’t be any imminent movement until then.

Ipswich also face competition from Luton Town for his signature.

Jose Mourinho was a big fan of Japhet Tanganga

Former Spurs manager Jose Mourinho gave Tanganga his debut against Liverpool and was openly impressed by him. “The kid has reason to be very happy with his level, not with the result obviously, but with his first game in the Premier League,” Mourinho said.

It couldn’t be a bigger one and he did it amazingly.”

The former Real Madrid boss went on to make Tanganga a regular in his squad and evidently was impressed with his skill set.

Tanganga is physically imposing and can operate at full-back or as a central defender, so he’d be a smart addition to McKenna’s squad, particularly on a free transfer.
