Cloud cover dominated the eclipse viewing for many residents in East Mississippi and West Alabama. The peak of the Great American Eclipse in News 11’s area occurred at 1:55 p.m., with the Moon blocking 85% of the Sun. However, around 2:30 p.m., downtown Meridian saw some breaks in the clouds, allowing Meteorologist Zack Rogers to capture a few photos. If you managed to witness the eclipse and snap some photos, you could upload them to the website for a chance to be featured on the evening newscasts.
