Breaking:Pistons Make Important Announcement on Veteran’s Summer League Status

The Detroit Pistons are preparing to travel to Las Vegas this week to kick off the 2024 Summer League. On Tuesday, the team revealed its roster. They have chosen to feature one of their experienced guards during the Summer League games. Second-year guard Marus Sasser will once again see significant playing time.

Last year, the Pistons drafted Sasser from Houston after he completed his senior season, starting in all 36 games he played. In his final year, Sasser averaged 17 points on a 38 percent field goal shooting rate.

Throughout his NCAA career, Sasser started 93 out of 107 games, averaging 14 points, three rebounds, and two assists, with a 37 percent three-point shooting accuracy.

Sasser was picked 25th overall by the Pistons in the 2023 NBA Draft, making him their second-highest selection after Overtime Elite prospect Ausar Thompson.

Last summer, Sasser averaged 16 points during the Pistons’ games in Vegas, placing him behind James Wiseman, Jaden Ivey, and Jalen Duren in scoring. His strong performance earned him a solid case for minutes in the preseason, leading to a consistent role in the 2023-2024 season.

In his rookie year, Sasser played 71 games, averaging 19 minutes per game. He scored eight points per game and provided three assists, shooting 43 percent from the field and 38 percent from three-point range.

As he heads into his second season, Sasser is adjusting to a new system with Monty Williams moving on and J.B. Bickerstaff taking over as head coach of the Pistons. The team is eager to see how the sophomore guard will perform after another NBA offseason.
