On the same day Ole Miss baseball lost a right-handed pitcher, the Rebels also managed to fill a big void for their 2025 roster.
On Sunday, it was revealed that BYU transfer catcher Collin Reuter has committed to play for Mike Bianco’s Diamond Rebels in 2025. His mother broke the news on social media. It is worth noting that Reuter still remains draft eligible (Jul. 14).
Though Reuter is bringing his collegiate talents all the way from Utah, he’ll be entering a familiar scene. The 6-foot-3 catcher attended Magnolia Heights High School in Senatobia, Miss. – just about an hour out of Oxford — were committed to BYU all the back in November of 2018. He is originally from Olive Branch, also in close proximity.
As you’d expect the Reuter family is thrilled to have their catcher playing closer to home…if his commitment sticks. At the time of this writing, we expect it to.
As a true freshman through the 2022 season, Reuter recorded 33 hits, six home runs and nine extra base hits in 46 games of action. The 2024 season marked his second season with the Cougars as he returned from an elbow injury he suffered the previous year.
How did Reuter perform in his comeback season?
He was an Honorable Mention All-Big 12, batting .265 with a career-high 10 home runs in 48 games during his sophomore year. Despite three errors, Reuter had 422 catches (40 assists) and achieved a fielding percentage of .995 over two seasons at BYU.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Kyler Carmack officially entered the NCAA transfer portal on Sunday. He is the ninth Rebel and fifth pitcher to enter the portal this offseason.
In his only season with Ole Miss in 2024, Carmack (0-0) recorded 11 strikeouts and nine walks, allowing 14 hits and 12 runs (11 earned) over 10.2 innings. His best performance was in March against South Carolina, where he allowed just one hit and recorded three strikeouts in 2.2 innings.
Carmack’s only start came in a midweek matchup against Austin Peay. Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco previously gave us a scouting report of Carmack when he announced the news on RebTalk.
Transfer from Arkansas State and a kid that has a good fastball. It’s going to be mid-low 90s fastball, but he also has an excellent change up and good slider. He got beaten up a little bit in his first outing. Like Liam, (he) didn’t have the greatest fall, didn’t have the greatest early spring. But (he’s) super talented and that’s why he’s here…Certainly moving Maddox to the weekend, I think this is just a huge opportunity for him, and one I know he’s looking forward to, to get out there…I know he’s excited about the opportunity,” Bianco said on his weekly radio appearance in March.
Carmack transferred to Ole Miss after spending two seasons with Arkansas State, where he was redshirted as a true freshman during the 2022 season.
