Michael Wilhoite, the Denver Broncos’ outside linebackers coach, was arrested on Sunday, February 23, 2025, on suspicion of second-degree assault of a police officer. The incident occurred at Denver International Airport when Wilhoite left his vehicle unattended in the departure lane. Upon returning, he was approached by a uniformed officer who informed him that leaving the vehicle unattended was prohibited. Wilhoite reportedly responded with profanity, chest-bumped the officer, and then punched him in the face, causing the officer to fall. The officer deployed a Taser, but Wilhoite managed to drive away. He was later apprehended and booked into the Denver jail. A judge set his bond at $5,000.

Wilhoite, 38, joined the Broncos’ coaching staff in 2023 after serving as the linebackers coach for the Los Angeles Chargers from 2021 to 2022. Prior to his coaching career, he played six seasons in the NFL as a linebacker with the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks. During his tenure with the Broncos, the team set a franchise record with 63 sacks in the regular season, ending an eight-year playoff drought.

The Broncos have issued a statement acknowledging the situation and are in the process of gathering more information. Wilhoite is scheduled to appear in court on March 10, 2025. citeturn0news13roncos Coach Michael Wilhoite Arrested for Alleged
