Aston Villa is currently at the center of significant transfer speculation, involving both new signings and potential departures. In the last 24 hours, several reports have indicated that the club is negotiating the sale of one of their key players.
As part of the negotiations, Villa could get their hands on two players as well as cash from the club they’re in talks with.
Villans midfielder Douglas Luiz appears to be closing in on a move to Juventus, and discussions seem to be progressing quickly.
The deal could see Juve duo Samuel Iling-Junior and Weston McKennie heading the other way, with Villa also receiving around €20million (£18million).
Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on X, stating that Juventus and Aston Villa are making progress on a swap deal after another round of positive talks tonight. The club-to-club agreement is nearing completion, and Juventus is close to finalizing personal terms with Douglas Luiz.
Although it’ll be sad to see Luiz go, Villa look set to be signing two very talented players from Juve.
Iling-Junior is a top talent who has already shown he has what it takes in Serie A and, at 20 years of age, has his whole career ahead of him.
The Juventus website has described the Englishman as “one of the most promising young footballers of his generation” and an “assist machine.”
Meanwhile, Weston McKennie is eager to prove himself in the Premier League after a challenging spell at Leeds United during the 2022/23 season.
United States soccer legend Alexi Lalas, who has followed McKennie’s career closely, praised him in a 2020 interview with Tuttosport. Lalas said, “He (McKennie) could be a new Gattuso, who (former Juve coach Andrea Pirlo) played with and knows how crucial he was for Milan’s balance.
“McKennie has qualities similar to Gattuso, but also Kante and Vidal. As they say here: Beauty and the Beast.
“Both beauty and the beast are vital for winning. McKennie, besides being a ball-winner, has excellent playmaking skills and is always a threat on set pieces.”
