While much of the attention during NBA free agency is rightly on the big names, smaller moves can also have a substantial impact. This might happen when teams sign players to fill their last roster spot or when two-way contract players contribute at the NBA level.
Each season, players who don’t make headlines in the offseason can still make a significant impact, highlighting the importance of every roster decision. For the Golden State Warriors, their main roster is largely set, but they have recently signed G League forward Jackson Rowe to a training camp contract, according to Keith Smith of Spotrac.
Rowe spent the previous season with the Santa Cruz Warriors, the Golden State Warriors’ G League affiliate. During 16 Showcase Cup games, he demonstrated his strong three-point shooting skills, making 28 of 54 attempts from beyond the arc (51.9%). This was a notable improvement over his 35.8% shooting from three-point range in 31 regular season G League games. The 6-foot-7 forward has a solid history as a three-point shooter.
In his final season at Cal State Fullerton (2019-20), Rowe made 40.7% of his three-point shots on 4.3 attempts per game. His accuracy continued in international play, where he shot 42.9% from three-point range in six games for Roanne in the LNB Pro A league during the 2020-21 season.
Rowe’s shooting ability combined with his 6-foot-7 stature makes him an intriguing prospect, especially considering his impressive athleticism demonstrated during the NBA Summer League.
