A Brighton player is facing a crucial decision regarding his future, having to choose between renewing his contract with the club or seeking a transfer. The upcoming weeks are expected to be pivotal in determining his next steps.

Earlier this month, the 25-year-old returned to The Amex after his loan at Standard Liège was cut short. The Belgian club decided to keep only those players who will be part of their plans for next season, which did not include the midfielder. According to Win Sports, Alzate’s future remains uncertain as his contract with Brighton is set to expire at the end of next month, and there are currently no signs of a renewal.

The Colombia international has struggled to secure playing time with Brighton since his loan spell at Swindon Town in the 2018/19 season. The report indicates that this situation is unlikely to change. With Roberto De Zerbi leaving the club at the end of the season and no new manager appointed yet, there is a possibility that Alzate might stay under new management. Several factors, such as boosting his confidence, could influence his decision to stay, but this would require a contract renewal. Ultimately, the final decision will be made by De Zerbi’s successor. In the meantime, Alzate must also decide whether to sign a new deal with Brighton, if offered, or seek opportunities elsewhere. The next few weeks will be crucial in determining his future.
