Beginning on Sunday, alternating lane closures are scheduled for the Arkansas River Bridge between Dardanelle and Russellville, the Arkansas Department of Transportation has announced.
The first closure is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. The construction and alternating closures will continue around the clock for about 10 weeks, transportation officials said.
All traffic will shift to the northbound lanes while work is conducted on the south side of the bridge. When the work shifts to the north side of the bridge, the traffic will be diverted to the southbound lanes, according to ARDOT.
The bridge, which connects Yell County to Pope County, is part of Arkansas 7, which is Arkansas’ longest state highway.
Crews will replace steel joints on each side of the bridge, transportation officials said.
Traffic will be controlled through the use of barrels, message boards and signage, according to ARDOT.
