At a media event on May 8, Angel Reese was questioned about the attendance of Chicago Bears players Keenan Allen, Caleb Williams, and Rome Odunze at the Chicago Sky’s game on May 7, where they defeated the New York Liberty 101-53.

“Everybody’s going to be courtside,” said Angel Reese, according to a post on X. “Just know, the Who’s Who is going to be courtside.”

She added, “I was just talking—I was at the Met Gala. Usher’s going to try to come to a game in Vegas. And Cardi B. I know some people that y’all might not think I know, but I know.”

Bleacher Report shared a TikTok video showing Angel Reese and Cardi B at the Met Gala, which took place on Reese’s 22nd birthday. In the clip, the two stars have a quick conversation about LSU, and Cardi B brings up the city of Chicago.

Cardi B is not touring this year, so there are no scheduled dates for her to be in Chicago. However, we do know that the rapper owns homes in Los Angeles and Atlanta, and she purchased a home in New York in 2021, according to the New York Post.

Cardi B mentioned on Instagram that due to her work, she’s constantly traveling and doesn’t just live in one place anymore. However, she emphasized that she needed to have a place to call home in her hometown, New York City.

Usher’s upcoming “COMING HOME” world tour begins on August 15 in Atlanta. As part of the tour, he’ll be performing three times in Chicago, specifically on November 28, 29, and 31. These dates are set for after the conclusion of the 2024 WNBA season.

But Reese mentioned Usher watching her play in Las Vegas. The Sky will be playing the Las Vegas Aces there on July 16 and September 3.

Since Usher’s tour doesn’t start until August, it sounds like he plans to sit courtside at Reese’s game in July.

How Reese Made It To The Met Gala

The “Chi Barbie” was able to make these connections with global pop stars at the Met Gala because of her head coach’s grace.

Chicago Sky first year head coach Teresa Weatherspoon gave Reese permission to leave their May 7 practice early, in order to attend the event.

Weatherspoon told Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune on May 6 that it was crucial for Reese and fellow rookie Kamilla Cardoso to participate in pre-planned events, even if it meant leaving practice early. He emphasized that they had earned this opportunity and that he would never take it away from them.

The very next day, Reese’s outstanding performance during their decisive win over the Liberty demonstrated that Weatherspoon’s decision to trust her was the right call.

Reese’s Rookie Of The Year Chances

According to FOX Sports, as of April 18, Reese had odds of +3500 to win the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year award, tying her for the fourth-best odds. The players with better odds are Caitlin Clark (-700), Cameron Brink (+1500), and her teammate Kamilla Cardoso (+2000).

Due to Cardoso’s shoulder injury on May 3, which will keep her out for 1-2 months, she’s likely no longer a contender for Rookie of the Year. With Cardoso out, Reese is expected to have more chances to shine in Chicago’s frontcourt.
