Brooklyn real estate sales have grown year over year at the start of 2024, according to Corcoran. Unsurprisingly, downtown Brooklyn continues to gain popularity, as noted by Robb Report. The area has become a luxury destination in New York City after 20 years of rezoning and the addition of 22,000 new apartments, with another 8,000 units in development, according to Curbed.
One of the area’s high-rise properties, dubbed Quay Tower, made headlines in 2021 following reports that Challengers star Zendaya copped a $5 million condo in the 30-story building. A former NBA coach is now shaking up in the tower, too, after closing a deal for $2.5 million. Jacque Vaughn, the now-former Brooklyn Nets coach (and former Nets player) who took over after Steve Nash was fired in 2022, has picked up a two-bedroom pad in the 126-unit high-rise. Aside from its hotel-like amenities, the home’s epic views of the Brooklyn Heights waterfront and Lady Liberty are what make it a slam dunk.
Quay Tower was designed by New York City-based ODA Architects and features interiors by the Los Angeles-based firm Marmol Radziner. Ral Companies developed the property. Eran Chen of ODA wrapped the building in a striking glass facade that contrasts with Radziner’s relaxed, California-inspired interiors. Stepping into a D-line condo, the same line as the one Vaughn bought, skyline views catch your eye from the entry gallery that leads to a main living area. Here, a spacious living room with floor-to-ceiling windows is flooded with natural light, next to a quaint dining space. The kitchen is steps away, with stainless steel appliances and marble counters.
Going in the opposite direction of the gallery, the secondary bedroom stands out with its own en-suite bathroom and ample closet space, while the nearby primary suite offers a three closets, a dressing area and city views from the comfort of your bed. The same views can also be found in the primary bathroom, with marble details and a soaking tub.
As a resident of Quay Tower, the former NBA coach has access to its myriad amenities, which include a doorman and 24-hour concierge services, plus a fitness center overlooking the park, a music room, a children’s playroom, and two expansive rooftop decks with a sky cabana.
