Just In:Hertha Berlin is showing interest in a 25-year-old player who has never been part of Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest have made some bizarre signings since winning promotion to the Premier League – with Josh Bowler perhaps the strangest of the bunch.

The winger was signed from Blackpool in the summer of 2022 and immediately went out on loan to Olympiacos.

Right now, he’s on loan with Cardiff City and when he’s managed to say fit, he’s proved a pretty decent signing by the Bluebirds.

Now, he’s attracting interest ahead of the summer transfer window, with his Forest future seemingly uncertain.

It’s not a surprise to see clubs interested in Bowler but one of the teams reportedly eyeing a move for him will perhaps come as a shock.

Well, this is a bit of a turn-up for the books, given that Bowler hasn’t made an appearance for Forest just yet.

Forest signed Bowler for just £2 million but it’s anticipated that he was added incase the team were relegated lastlast season.

According to One Football, Hertha Berlin are now keeping tabs on Bowler as they eye an assault on returning to the Bundesliga next season.

Hertha won’t be winning promotion this season back to the top flight but will be keen to do better when things get back underway next term.

Bowler has scored four goals and claimed two assists this season and now it would appear as though he’s a wanted man.

Given his performances for Cardiff, they would surely want to keep him but a move abroad might be something that the player would consider this summer.

It looks very unlikely that Bowler will get a new contract in the summer and that will see him leave for free.

Players leave clubs for free all of the time but very few leave in such circumstances where they’ve not even kicked a ball for the club.

Bowler is out of contract at Forest in the summer and that means that it’s highly unlikely that he will play for the club.

It’s not hard to understand why Forest did sign the player but ultimately it’s a waste of money from the club’s perspective.

Following promotion to the Premier League, Forest wasted a number of millions and ultimately they have to learn some lessons.

With George Syrianos back involved in transfers, hopefully, adding players like Bowler can become a thing of the past for Forest.

The club has failed a player like Bowler but at 25-years-old, there should be life after Forest for the tricky winger.
