Boston Basketball Partners LLC, led by Wyc Grousbeck, recently announced the team’s impending sale, potentially within this year. According to Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe, there’s optimism within the organization that minority owner Steve Pagliuca will be the successful bidder. Pagliuca himself stated on Monday that he intends to actively participate in the bidding process and is eager to potentially take ownership.
Pagliuca is already very familiar with the Celtics organization, serving as a managing general partner and sitting on the NBA’s Board of Governors. Should he assume the role of controlling owner, it would probably indicate that significant organizational changes are not imminent. This prospect would likely be embraced by numerous Celtics fans eager to avoid complete ownership turnover.
