Phil Parkinson has cemented his status as a Wrexham legend, leading the club to its first League One campaign in nearly two decades.

With the Championship season recently concluded, Birmingham City, Rotherham United, and Huddersfield Town are set to drop into League One, offering Wrexham some intriguing matchups. Meanwhile, Derby County and Portsmouth have been promoted to the Championship.

The League One play-off picture is becoming clearer too after Bolton Wanderers beat Barnsley in their semi-final clash on Tuesday.

Wrexham hero Darren Ferguson misses out on promotion

Wednesday night saw Oxford United take on Peterborough United for a spot in the League One play-off final – and it was Oxford who ran out winners.

Oxford United secured a place in the play-off final at Wembley after drawing 1-1 with Peterborough United on Tuesday night, following their 1-0 win in the first leg.

This result means Wrexham fans can look forward to a reunion with former midfield star Darren Ferguson next season, who now manages Peterborough. Despite winning four promotions over four spells with the club, including three out of League One, Ferguson couldn’t lead Peterborough to a fifth as Oxford held strong against late pressure to progress to the final.
