Latest Update on Uncommitted Players Chaz Lanier, Cam Christie, JT Toppin, DJ Wagner in Transfer Portal

With the college basketball transfer portal now closed and players making commitments to new schools or finalizing NBA draft choices, the pool of available talent is shrinking. However, there are still notable transfers facing important decisions about their future destinations.

Most of those still available are currently at the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago or just finished the G League Combine. As this week winds down, the NBA Draft-or-transfer portal dominoes will begin falling. The decisions some of these top players make will help shape the rosters for major programs next season and could define what teams are positioned to make a run in the 2024-25 season.

The 2024 college football transfer portal saw a surge in entries, raising questions about how many of these players will truly make a significant impact at their new schools. While pinpointing exact numbers is challenging, initial reports indicate that certain players from power conference teams and one from the Group of Five might have warranted higher ratings based on their performances during spring practices.

The early returns are in coming out of spring practice for transfer portal additions in 2024. And many potential impact players flew under the radar a bit during the evaluation process and should be quality players in the two-deep at their respective programs.

OSCAR ADAWAY, RB, SOUTH CAROLINA

247Sports transfer rating: Three-star, 89.0
One of three ballcarriers the Gamecocks signed, Oscar Adaway was the backfield’s top option this spring out of North Texas with Arkansas transfer Raheim Sanders on the mend with a shoulder injury. Adaway showed enough to warrant a bevy of reps ahead of others at running back and got the first carry in the Garnet and Black spring game. He was a productive player with the Mean Green and should be, at worst, South Carolina’s No. 2 back this season if Sanders is healthy and in shape following his return.

BENJAMIN YUROSEK, TE, GEORGIA

247Sports transfer rating: Four-star, 90.0

The transfer from Stanford aims to secure the backup tight end position behind Oscar Delp, a former five-star recruit expected to succeed three-time All-American Brock Bowers at Georgia. Given the Bulldogs’ frequent use of tight ends, Yurosek’s presence in the second-string role suggests he’ll compete with Delp for reps and targets. With 108 receptions for 1,342 yards and five touchdowns across three college seasons, Yurosek brings experience and skill to the position.
