Chicago Bulls guard Alex Caruso has won the 2023-24 NBA Hustle Award, marking his first time earning this honor. Caruso, previously named to the 2022-23 Kia NBA All-Defensive First Team, is recognized for his high-energy plays that don’t always appear in standard statistics but significantly contribute to his team’s success.
The NBA Hustle Award, established in 2016-17, celebrates players who excel in hustle plays such as deflections, loose ball recoveries, charges drawn, screen assists, contested shots, and box-outs.
During the 2023-24 regular season, Caruso led the NBA with 3.7 deflections per game and was second in total deflections, with 265. He also ranked seventh in both total loose balls recovered, with 73, and total contested three-point attempts, with 221. Additionally, Caruso drew 12 charges, placing him among the top 18 players in this category.
