New England Patriots Acquire 3X All-Pro Justin Jefferson From Minnesota Vikings In This Trade Proposal…Read more.

The New England Patriots urgently need to bolster their offense to support quarterback Drake Maye’s growth this season. Despite having numerous gaps in their roster, the Patriots chose to draft a quarterback with the No. 3 pick. Although it’s still relatively early in the offseason, Maye is currently third on the quarterback depth chart.

According to Alex Ballentine from Bleacher Report, a potential trade could benefit the Patriots. The Minnesota Vikings have yet to secure a new contract for star receiver Justin Jefferson. A report last week indicated that the Vikings were open to trading Jefferson during the draft if it allowed them to move up and select Malik Nabers. There’s a strong chance the Vikings would still consider trading Jefferson if they received a compelling offer.

Ballentine believes the Patriots would need to offer a significant package to acquire Justin Jefferson. He suggests that adding a player of Jefferson’s caliber could revitalize the Patriots’ offense and make the team more attractive to free agents in the next offseason.

Finances aren’t an issue for the Patriots, as their current roster lacks any player with a top-market contract. They would welcome the opportunity to sign a receiver to a deal worth over $30 million annually.

That’s especially true now that they’ve drafted Drake Maye. They have their quarterback prospect, but he’s throwing to one of the worst receiver rooms in the league. By the end of the year, his best options might be DeMario Douglas and rookies Ja’Lynn Polk and Javon Baker.

That’s a tough environment for Maye to have success. After the disappointment of Mac Jones, the Patriots might be better off making the aggressive move of adding a special player like Jefferson to jumpstart the offense.

Ballentine’s trade proposal

Patriots Receive

  • WR Justin Jefferson

Vikings Receive

    • 2025 first-round pick
    • 2025 third-round pick

  • 2026 second-round pick
  • 2026 fourth-round pick
  • The Patriots would give up a lot of picks for a player who they will have to pay handsomely. However, the Vikings are giving up a player they cannot replace. Frankly, the Patriots need to make a move like this in the next year or so. They’ve put too much into Maye to have him become a bust because he doesn’t have anyone to throw to.
