Before training camp, the Green Bay Packers might still be adding players, thus it might make sense to get a cheap veteran like linebacker Kwon Alexander.
Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox revealed a few inexpensive free agent choices. Furthermore, they offered a few possible suitors for every veteran that was available.
Knox outlined the reasons why Alexander would be a good fit for Green Bay.
Knox stated, “Alexander should be available at a team-friendly price due to his injury history and age.” Alexander’s skills could also be useful to the Green Bay Packers, who lost linebacker De’Vondre Campbell early in the summer. Alexander might assist in developing rookie second-round pick Edgerrin Cooper in Green Bay.
The Packers wouldn’t be making the most dramatic move. It might, nevertheless, provide the squad with some real depth at linebacker.
The NFL Career of Kwon Alexander
Alexander used to have the appearance of a potential NFL star. Even though injuries destroyed that chance, he was still able to have a long and successful career.
In 2015, Alexander was selected only in the fourth round out of LSU. He was named a starter by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in his rookie year, and by his sophomore year, he was dominating the league. After finishing first in the NFL that season with 108 solo tackles, he was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2017.
The San Francisco 49ers were impressed with Alexander’s performance. Despite suffering an ACL tear the season before, the organization nevertheless signed him to a four-year, $54 million contract in 2019.
