LeBron has until Saturday to decide whether to exercise his $51.4 million player option for the upcoming season or enter free agency. With the NBA Draft occurring on Thursday and Friday, he might use this timeline as leverage, waiting to see the Lakers’ moves.

According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, both James and Davis want the Lakers to make a significant impact during the NBA Draft by acquiring another elite player. The expectation is that LeBron will stay with the Lakers, either by exercising his player option or signing a new deal, but he has yet to inform the team of his plans.

LeBron, who turns 40 in December, played at a high level last season. However, the Lakers need to balance their decisions, considering James’ potential short-term presence and Davis’s longer-term influence as he is only 31.
