Kuhio Aloy, the younger brother of Arkansas baseball shortstop Wehiwa, announced he will transfer to play for the Razorbacks in 2025.
Aloy spent his freshman season at BYU, where he batted .269 with 9 doubles, 1 triple, 8 home runs, and a team-high 38 RBIs. He was named to this year’s Big 12 All-Freshman team after ranking in the top three for home runs and RBIs among league freshmen. He also tied for the Big 12 lead with seven sacrifice flies.
Aloy started 46 games as the Cougars’ designated hitter and four games at first base. He had a .447 slugging percentage and .329 on-base percentage for an OPS of .776.
The BYU roster lists him as 6-1 and does not list players’ weight.
Aloy made an early splash when he homered in his first two collegiate games against Southern Cal and Ohio State at the MLB Desert Invitational near Phoenix.
He was named Big 12 freshman of the week May 6 following a big weekend series at Miami. He had multiple hits in every game of the series, including a game-tying home run in the ninth inning of the opener.
The Aloy brothers played together at Baldwin High School in Wailuku, Hawaii, and spent one season apiece playing baseball in the West before transferring to the Razorbacks. Wehiwa Aloy was a Freshman All-American and Western Athletic Conference freshman of the year at Sacramento State in 2023.
Arkansas could have three native Hawaiians on the roster in 2025. In addition to the Aloys, infielder Nolan Souza is from Honolulu
