Town have brought back goalkeeper Henry Gray from his loan at Chelmsford City following an injury to third-choice keeper Cieran Slicker. Gray, a New Zealand U20 international, initially joined Town last summer before going on loan to Chelmsford City in December. During his time there, he showcased his talent with nine clean sheets in 22 National League South appearances. Manager Robbie Simpson stated that the 18-year-old has been recalled to bolster the goalkeeper options at Town.
Unfortunately, we received a call from Ipswich this morning informing us of their need to recall Henry due to an injury to one of their keepers.
“They typically have three matchday keepers, so with one sidelined, it was Henry’s chance to step up.
“As much as we would have liked him to stay with us for further development during the play-off games, Ipswich has their own priorities, especially aiming for promotion to the Premier League.
“It’s unfortunate for us, but hopefully, it’ll be a positive opportunity for Henry. We appreciate his efforts with us and will closely follow his future progress.”
Reportedly, Slicker, Ipswich’s usual third matchday keeper, who recently represented Scotland U21s, sustained the injury.
