Lewis Miley sustained an injury earlier this week while turning innocuously during a running drill. According to the Northern Echo, the 18-year-old will be out for approximately three months, which, if accurate, would put him out of commission until the end of September 2024. If you extend that period to the weekend of Saturday, October 19, when Newcastle plays Brighton at home, that would allow Miley more than three and a half months to recover.
Due to preseason and the September and October international breaks, there will only have been seven Premier League games played by that time.
It is not ideal, though, for Lewis Miley or any other player, to miss the entirety of the preseason schedule.
Players are strengthening their stamina and level of fitness at this time to get ready for the upcoming season.
In an attempt to make sure Lewis Miley would be fully recovered for preseason, Eddie Howe chose to give him complete rest and no games after he had a back injury while travelling with the young England squad in March. It would be extremely terrible for this strange injury to derail those plans.
