Tennessee Volunteers: James Pearce Jr. Projected To Be Top Defensive Lineman In 2025 NFL Draft

Tennessee Volunteers defensive lineman James Pearce Jr. is gearing up for his junior season. Following a 9-4 record last year, Tennessee is striving to reach the expanded College Football Playoff. Competing in the challenging SEC Conference, the Volunteers aim to demonstrate their capabilities.

Pearce Jr. did not have much production during his freshman season, but his numbers jumped big time during his sophomore season. As a sophomore last season, he recorded 27 tackles, 9.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one defensive touchdown (52 yards). James Pearce Jr. was on the All-First SEC team a season ago in college football and hopes to be on it again during his junior season.

Due to his significant improvement during his sophomore year, many believe James Pearce Jr. could be a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso projects Pearce Jr. could be selected as high as the second overall pick, potentially by the Tennessee Titans.

Pearce Jr. could be the top overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft depending on who has the number one overall selection. Not a lot of teams may need to draft a quarterback in 2025 compared to the 2024 NFL Draft. Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck could be the top selection in the draft depending on how things fall.
