USA’s LeBron James Wins 2024 Olympics MVP; Steph Curry, Jokić Named to All-Star 5

LeBron James was awarded the MVP title for the men’s basketball tournament at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, leading Team USA to an unbeaten 6-0 record and securing the gold medal.

Teammate Stephen Curry, who scored eight three-pointers in the United States’ 98-87 victory over France in the gold medal game, was also named to the All-Star Five alongside James.

Similarly, reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokić from Serbia, who recorded the highest totals for points (113), rebounds (64), and assists (52), was selected for the All-Star Five while guiding his team to a bronze medal.

James concluded the tournament averaging 14.2 points on 66 percent shooting, along with 8.2 assists and 6.8 rebounds per game, all while playing 24.5 minutes per game.

James’ standout performance in the tournament came during the United States’ impressive comeback victory over Serbia. Trailing 76-63 heading into the fourth quarter, the team rallied to win 95-91. James recorded a triple-double with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, including six points and four rebounds in the final quarter.

James then added 14 points and 10 assists in the game against France, where Victor Wembanyama led with a game-high 26 points. It was no surprise that Wembanyama received the tournament’s Rising Star award and was also named to the All-Star team.

Wembanyama concluded the tournament with averages of 15.8 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game.
