The national team received disappointing news regarding Giannis recently, as an injury has sidelined the former NBA MVP for their upcoming tune-up game against Puerto Rico on Tuesday.
Reporter Harris Stavrou of SPORT24 announced on Monday that Giannis Antetokounmpo would miss the upcoming exhibition game against Puerto Rico due to illness. Stavrou reported on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Giannis Antetokounmpo is OUT for tomorrow’s game against Puerto Rico because of an illness. The Greek Freak didn’t travel to Thessaloniki with the team.”
The specific nature of the illness was not disclosed, but it appears to be a minor issue. At this time, it doesn’t seem like this setback will affect Antetokounmpo’s availability for the Olympics.
