“Discover East Nashville’s Diverse Hub: Tabla Rasa Toys and Tabla Rasa Cafe, Owned by Austin Bauman – Unveiling the ‘Family Corner’ Essence on the East Side
Austin Bauman, the visionary behind Tabla Rasa Toys and Tabla Rasa Cafe, has created a haven catering to all tastes. The toy store boasts an array of captivating merchandise, while skaters can revel in the offerings at Cecil’s Skate Shop nearby. Meanwhile, those craving sweets can indulge in delights at Tabla Rasa Cafe, formerly known as the Soft Service Station.
This year’s revamped menu promises an array of cold, sweet delights, ranging from classic chocolate and vanilla soft serve to innovative concoctions like the Sunbeam shake (featuring freshly squeezed lemonade) and the Walla Royal shake (infused with chai from Chai Wallah). Coffee aficionados can savor affogatos or Kick Flip cold brews. Additionally, the cafe serves snacks, and patrons can enjoy JMAS Breakfast Burritos from the food truck parked on the lot, open Thursday through Sunday.”
We wanted this to be a family corner — a place where people could go and have a good time with their whole family,” owner Austin Bauman tells the Scene. “I think a lot of Nashville businesses leave out kids, and a lot of Nashville tourism leaves out kids. And I think that’s a really important thing to nurture as a community and as a city. And so that’s what, I think, Tabla Rasa is about.”
